The Art of Malibu Tile: California Retro-Surf Jewelry
Grades 6+

December 13th, 2008 at 12:00 PM

Come join us for a class that will teach you about the history of the ceramic art form, with Moorish influence design and color palette.

Students will recreate patterns out of clay that translate into "cool" art (jewelry) pieces that both the guys and girls wear. Very "California surf!"

Great gift the kids will be proud to give for the holidays!
Registration is Required! Call us at 671-4290.

What’s on the Web:
Microsoft has launched a new downloadable desktop software entitled: Worldwide Telescope ( www.worldwidetelescope.org).  For now it is only Windows compatible.  The service gathers information from the Hubble telescope and other telescopes from around the world to give viewers a wonderful view of the nighttime sky. Visitors to the site can pan around and zoom in and out of different locations.  You also have the option to switch from infrared and “non-visible light”. www.worldwidetelescope.org            Readergirlz is an online reader’s advisory for middle/high school girls. The site’s premise is as follows: “Readergirlz is about celebrating books featuring strong female characters, connecting girls to stories that will change the way they see themselves, and inspiring girls to have the guts to make history of their own.” The site offers girls the opportunity to see what’s new in print and what their peers are reading.  It features articles and in-depth author interviews.  You can also chat on-line with authors and download music.  It has been named one of the best websites for Young Adults by the American Library Association.  - www.readergirlz.com
It’s a whole new way to explore the world of reading for the information age!
